MicroDwelling is a small event each year held in Phoenix, Arizona. It is an exhibit of tiny structures, 600 sf or less. In 2014, Andrea worked for and volunteered for the event. This included working on marketing, the website, social media, organizing a mini-lecture series, and attending the event. During her time attending the event in 2014, she noticed a lack of shade and seating and decided to enter the event the following year.
In 2015, Andrea built a structure called [spaces]. It was a study of form, proportions, and scale of shading and seating. From previous studio projects while at Arizona State University, Andrea also is intrigued by playing with materials and using them in new ways. In the structure, plywood was layered in arches to provide a structure that was the floor structure, wall structure, and ceiling structure.
